You see them on streetcorners, looking forlorn, and worse for the wear. Sometimes the more enterprising of them will offer to wash your windshield at a red light - usually with dubious results. Others pester. Some just moan.

They popped up like mushrooms, [Adult Swim], stenciled, with spray paint, all over downtown Austin. They were suspiciously bright, and white; they almost appeared to be made with chalk. Rub with your shoe, however, and they went nowhere. Rain didn't wash them away.

I had to take my dog to the vet, though I pretty much already knew the outcome. It was not bad, nor good, it was just what I expected: he suffers from allergies. A round of antibiotics and he'll be fine, I'm simply out a couple of hundred bucks.
